I found this on the BBC News web site. I am shocked and amazed that the focus of legal proceedings has been on stopping the person doing exactly the thing that allowed him to be caught in the first place. I cannot believe they have stopped him pointing out to the Police that he has committed offences and providing them with evidence.

Then again though, I do not see a reference here to him being prosecuted based on anything that he posted.
